REIKI & THE HARP: CONNECTIONS IN VIBRATION AND ENTRAINMENT. PART 4

Cymber handsCome Along with Me: Entrainment

Reiki and harp music deliver healing frequencies through a process called entrainment. Entrainment seems to be first noticed by a European craftsman who built pendulum clocks, Christian Huygens.

One day he noticed that all of the clock pendulums were moving together. No matter how he tried to change their swings, they would quickly come back into synchronization. Later science would find that all the pendulums…indeed all vibrating things…would tend to swing in rhythm with the strongest one in the room.

In The World is Sound by Joachim-Ernst Berendt: “Science has taught us that [entrainment] is universal. Two oscillators pulsating in the same field in almost identical rhythm will tend to lock in, with the result that eventually their vibrations will become precisely synchronous. This phenomenon is referred to as mutual phase-locking or entrainment. Entrainment is universal in nature.

“In fact, it is so ubiquitous that we hardly notice it,” he continued. “It is a physical phenomenon, but it is more than that because it informs us about the tendency of the Universe to share rhythms, that is to vibrate in harmony.”

November 4 Performance at New Thought

CymberPlease join me for a presentation and performance of “The Healing Power of the Harp” at the New Thought Center of Hawaii in Kona, on Sunday, November 4, at 10 am. I’ll be talking about the different types of healing music, and giving examples from two women composers: Queen Lili’uokalani of Hawai’i, and Hildegarde von Bingen. Two very different women, two very different times, but all healing music.

WHAT ARE “NEW THOUGHT” CHURCHES?

New Thought churches are variously called Unity, Science of Mind, Churches of Religious Science, Divine Science, Churches of The Truth; and there are myriad other independent churches, centers, and study-groups espousing the same “New Thought” philosophy.

Inspiring Performance at Globe Sound Healing Conference

What a blessing to be able to perform at the Globe Sound Healing Conference 2016, at the Marin Headland YMCA. I played in the Sound Garden in extraordinarily beautiful weather.

Usually, the headlands are windy, foggy, or cold, and often all three. It was a rare treat to have a warm sunny day, though my listeners were pretty baked by the time I was finished playing.

I performed “Seasons of the Soul” for this experienced sound healing crowd. Normally, I play the pieces in order, but always with a level of improvisation that allows me to respond to the energy in the room. This time, this group needed the concert played out of order, which was a fun and challenging experience. I had to keep track of all that I had played, so I knew what to do last.

Pro tip for harpists: Always dress well, even in your traveling clothes. Because you might forget your performance outfit and have to perform in what you are wearing, as I did at this gig.
